Lead the best part of everyone's day

We're hiring Event Leads: the person who runs our waffle station at weddings, office parties, markets and block parties around Denver. Good pay, happy crowds, and you pick the events you work.

    Why work at Tom's

Six reasons to be an Event Lead

    1

    Pay that's high, and consistent

There are two kinds of events, and each pays one simple way. Tips are on top of both.

    Public events

    20% of sales

Markets and festivals, where guests buy on the spot. You earn 20% of what the event sells plus your tips, and never less than $20 an hour: if a slow day comes in under that, we make up the difference.

    Private events

    $30 an hour

Weddings, office parties, apartment events. The host has already paid, so you get a flat hourly rate for the whole shift, plus an equal share of the tips.

Example, a 5-hour market shift: sell $1,000 of waffles and you earn $200, plus tips. On a slow day that sells $300, 20% is $60; with $15 in tips that's $75, so the $20/hr floor tops you up to $100.

    You're where people are happy

Weddings, holiday parties, kids' tournaments, Saturday markets. You spend your shift enjoying the good part of someone's day with them.

    Nobody's looking over your shoulder

Most events are you and maybe one other person. You run the day from load-up to unload, and we trust you to get it right.

    You choose your events

Open shifts go up in the staff app and you request the ones you want. Fit it around school, another job, or your weekends, even if you are only working a few days a week for us.

People are glad to see you

Nobody walks away from a warm waffle unhappy. Guests thank you, hosts book you again, and the line is usually smiling.

    Questions

Is this a job or contract work?

Contract work. Our crew are independent contractors: you sign a contractor agreement and fill in a W-9 instead of a W-4, and you choose which shifts you take.

    Do I need food-service experience?

No. Our training covers the waffles, the drinks, food safety and setup, and your first shifts are with an experienced lead.

Do I need a big car?

No. We have company vans that you will use to transport your load out from the warehouse to your event location.

How many hours can I get?

It depends on the season and how many shifts you ask for. April through October is busiest; May is our biggest month. Most of our crew work part-time around school or another job.

    What do I wear?

An apron and a Tom's Waffles hat, which we provide, with your hair tied back or covered. The standard is just plain, black clothing, but special event shifts list their own dress code, and you get a reminder six hours before.

    When do I get paid?

Weekly. Your hours, tips and bonuses are on your shifts in the staff app.

How old do I need to be?

    18 or older.
